Thrissur: Kerala’s third Information Technology park to be set up at Koratty will accelerate development in Thrissur district by providing employment to a few thousand people by 2011, according to Sidhartha Bhattacharya, chief executive officer of Infopark. Addressing a press conference at the IT Park in Koratty on Thursday, he said the IT park would promote Kochi and Thrissur under the concept of twin cities.
He said 40,000 sq. ft of space had been allotted under the first phase of the IT park. In the second phase, to be completed by mid-2010, an additional 30,000 sq. ft would be offered. “Creates more jobs”.
The third phase envisaged development of an additional 2 lakh sq ft. with the participation of private agencies and creation of 6,000 jobs. “The response of companies has been encouraging. It prompts us to move into the second phase of development immediately,” he said.
On January 15, Revenue Minister K.P. Rajendran had handed over documents of 30 acres of land, which was recovered from Vaigai Threads, Koratty, for development of the IT Park. District Collector V.K. Baby said additional land would be provided, if required.
Chief Minister V.S. Achuthanandan will inaugurate the IT Park on Saturday.
Among those expected to take part in the function are Revenue Minister K.P. Rajendran, Industries Minister Elamaram Karim, Water Resources Minister N. K. Premachandran, Transport Minister Jose Thettayil and Devaswom Minister Kadannappally Ramachandran.
