Varkala, Tuesday, February 21, 2012: A 48-year-old foreign tourist was hacked by a three member armed gang during a robbery attempt near Varkala here on Tuesday morning. The injured has been identified as Edward hailing from Britain.
The incident occurred at the Paradise resort in Varkala by around 2.00 in the morning. The armed men barged into the room and attacked the foreigner when he tried to resist them.
Edward, who sustained serious injuries during the attack, has been shifted to a nearby private hospital. His passport and some cash are reported missing, police told. The Varkala police have begun investigation into the incident.
